In order to improve the mental health of international students during the normalization of the epidemic, on the afternoon of May 17, the International Student Psychological Education Center of the School of International Education invited Zhang Wangxin, a psychologist of the Second Affiliated Hospital and director of the Medical Psychology Teaching and Research Office, to give a report entitled "Stress Regulation during the Epidemic" for international students in school, and conducted one-on-one psychological counseling. Du Baoxuan, deputy secretary of the General Party Branch, all counselors and some international students at school listened to the report.
In the report, Director Zhang Wangxin provided international students with some ways to relieve stress: First, face stress directly and choose appropriate methods to deal with them. Second, divert attention and learn to relax. Third, exercise actively, and stick to taking aerobic exercise for more than 40 minutes 3-4 times a week.
After the report, Zhang Wangxin provided one-on-one consulting services for students, patiently listened to the problems of exchange students in life and learning, and gave them professional solutions.
Director Zhang Wangxin has undertaken the teaching tasks of two courses, MEDICAL PSYCHOLOGY and PSYCHIATRY for international students since 2012, and is highly respected and loved by the students. Yisi from Bangladesh said, "Mr. Zhang told us that anger and emotional rage are normal stress in our lives. We should actively face the stress and relieve it. I will cultivate stronger and braver qualities in college to make myself more perfect. Kelly from Pakistan said, "Mr. Zhang fully understands my ideas and provides me with professional solutions. I am so lucky. I’m grateful for the opportunity offered by the school and I am thankful to our teachers for focusing on our hearts."
This lecture is one of the important contents of the pilot project of the School of International Education. In the near future, the Institute of International Education will also organize a series of other activities focusing on the mental health and study life of students.
