1. Winning the battle against epidemics 

 

 

In the face of the sudden epidemic, the whole college was united in its determination to fight the "epidemic to protect the school" war. School (college) leaders Han Jinxiang, Peng Chunlei and Xu Shufeng visited the college to inspect and supervise the epidemic prevention work. The college took the lead in issuing the epidemic prevention and control plan, taking the lead in the prevention and control of the epidemic among international students, actively carrying out the activity of "suspending classes without stopping school", and strictly implementing the requirements of campus epidemic prevention and control, achieving a comprehensive victory in the "battle against the epidemic".         

            2. Preparation of the College's 14th Five-Year Plan

 

 

 Based on the achievements, problems and shortcomings of the College's education development in the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan, the College has been "planning for the big picture", "striving for a new situation" and "opening up a new situation".                   3. New breakthroughs in open schooling

 

 

Persistent enrolment of over 40 students amidst the impact of the epidemic and the dramatic changes in the international situation. Joined the Association of Universities in Central and Eastern European Countries. Joined the World Association for the Teaching of Chinese as a Foreign Language. Signed a one-year Chinese language commissioning project with a local university in Pakistan, a cooperative schooling project with a university in Uzbekistan, and a postgraduate enrolment project with Nanjing Shuangri.

 

                         4. International Student Faculty Recognition

 

  

 On 26th and 27th December, the assessment for the qualification of international students' English-taught teachers in 2020, co-organized by the Human Resources Department and the College of International Education, was held at the Changcheng Road Campus in Tai'an and the main campus in Jinan respectively. Xu Shufeng, Vice President of the University (College), attended the launch meeting of the accreditation assessment and delivered a speech. The accreditation of international student teachers is an important measure to strengthen the construction of the teaching team of international students in English, which will promote the rapid development of the education of international students in China and further enhance the internationalization level of the teachers in the university (college).

                             5. Smooth online teaching

 

 

 

 As a result of the epidemic, online teaching has become the "new normal" in Chinese international education. As early as the winter holidays in 2020, the College was the first university in China to launch the "Happy Chinese" online class. The exciting, fluent and complete live classes were greatly welcomed by the international students of the school (college). The College held an online graduation examination for the graduating international students of the class of 2020. The graduation exam team worked together to overcome the difficulties of the online exam, so that every student could successfully complete the exam, which won the unanimous praise of teachers and students.

 

 

 

                         6. Academic enhancement is seeing results

 

 

The College launched a series of academic activities, with Professor Gong Meiling, Professor Fu Ning and Professor Gaoxin from Shandong University giving academic lectures to students and teachers. Representatives of international students attended the First Third Annual Academic Conference of the Translational Medicine Branch of the Shandong Stroke Association. Two provincial-level projects and one municipal-level key project were approved for teachers.

 

                                        7. Launch of Quality Accreditation for Education of International Students in China

 

 

The College launched the quality accreditation process for international student education and on 21 September invited Professor Cui-Mei Zhang, Director of the International Medical Education Branch of the China Education Association for International Exchange, to give a presentation. Vice President Xu Shufeng met with Professor Zhang.

                                                          

                 8. Building a brand of Yamada Stay in Control

 

    

    The combination of institutionalized and affectionate management of international students respects the culture and customs of international students, while improving the education and management mechanism, so that the management of international students can be followed by rules. Focusing on the integration of teaching and management, the integration of daily management of students and foreign-related management, the university always takes the psychological health education of international students as an important work for students' safety and stability; it carries out rich and colorful recreational activities such as cloud class meetings, one-to-one psychological counseling, one-to-one cloud home visits, cultural experience of Chinese festivals and safety lecture series to enliven students' life and enhance their knowledge, friendship and love of China.          

                                  

                             9. Cultural Innovation

 

 

 

 

 In July, the WeChat public number was launched, which became a new platform for external publicity of the college and attracted wide attention within the university. In September, the College held a one-to-one psychological interview with international students, which achieved good results, and in October, the College went to Xiagang Township for voluntary teaching and cultural visits to promote volunteer services.

 

             10. Party building leads the way to a new chapter

 

   

  

On October 21, the General Party Branch was renewed. Under the strong leadership of the Party Committee of the University (College), the new Party General Branch will further enhance the "four consciousnesses", continue to carry forward the spirit of hard work and entrepreneurship, act boldly, improve the quality and efficiency, manage finely, build a famous brand of education for studying in China and contribute to the construction of the "double first-class" university of the University (College). The College will continue to carry forward the spirit of hard work, work hard, be bold, improve quality and efficiency, and manage carefully, so as to build a well-known brand of education for students studying in China and add bricks to the construction of the "double first-class" university. All staff of the College earnestly studied and implemented Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and studied the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the Nineteenth Central Committee. The General Committee of the Party and each branch carried out the activity of "I will give a party lecture". A variety of party building activities were held to ensure the high quality development of the College.
