To strengthen the psychological guidance for international students during the epidemic prevention and control period, enrich the form of mental health activities for international students and improve their psychological health, the School of International Education held a psychological cartoon competition with the theme of "Comic on paper and drawing in mind" from March 23 to 27.

The first prize winners were BRIANNAH JUSTINE from Tanzania for 'Awakening', SHAHBANO from Pakistan for ' Evening lights', SHALINEE RATHORE from India for 'Freedom' and PAULINE from Zambia for 'Garden of Rose'. The second prizes were awarded to SHAHBANO from Pakistan for her work ' The Castle of Dreams ' and ‘Mysterious Art'.

 

BRIANNAH JUSTINE

Painting title：Awakening

This poster provides us with an artwork which is a hand carrying the valleys with some trees, I simply call this vegetation, both the valleys and the vegetation are part of nature and are both in a black and white color (noncolor)this can represent purity, cleanliness, and perfection, that's for white and for the blackish part can represent power, elegance, and mystery. Therefore I choose to view this artwork positively, whereby it generally represents us as human beings on earth, that we have got and we hold abundant potential naturally in us from the thoughts to the feelings, and emotions, to our hands. So I believe we can choose to be aware and decide to use this potential to control beautiful things in a reasonable aspect for Better living.

 since winter is over the art  represents the season of spring. it doesn't Matter whether the plants die during wintertime they always come back during spring. Just like life things may go bad but they won't be bad forever eventually spring will come back.

Art has always been mystry. You can add different shades, different shapes and anything you like. It makes it look beautiful anyway, and it can never be ruined. It looks good no matter what and that is Art. Random shapes in art and random colors represent Mental health. Art not only is a passion but is therapeutic for so many people. It helps calm your mind and heart and stay peaceful

 

Cartoons are external images of invisible mental states, which are a way of self-exploration and self-awareness, as well as a way to interpret mental health concepts and popularise mental health knowledge.

The Psychological Cartoon Competition provides a stage for students to show their imagination and creativity, and guides them to use their brush to describe their school life, express their emotions and have a dialogue with their mind, which is conducive to promoting self-awareness and awareness.
