In May 2017, 3rdRegional Physiology Quiz in China was held in Xuzhou Medical University. After three rounds of intense competition, our representative team won the first prize with excellent performance.
The 3rdRegional Physiology Quiz in China, sponsored by the International Physiology Competition Committee and held by Xuzhou Medical University, aims at selecting excellent teams for IMSPQ. In the 3rdRegional Physiology Quiz in China, there are 20 representative teams from Second Military Medical University, Central South University, Anhui Medical University, Jiangsu University and other colleges and universities. As a team who took part in the contest for the first time, our representative team (members are 10 students from School of International Education) won the first prize under the guidance of Shang Feifei (a teacher from School of Basic Medical Science), Dr. Bikesh and Dr. Shahrukh.
After 3rdRegional Physiology Quiz in China, on August, our representative team participated in the 15thIMSPQ held in University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on August 16 and 17. The competition attracted 104 universities, including University of Bristol, University of New South Wales, Osaka University, National University of Singapore, Fudan University and Beijing Union Medical College. And 17 colleges and universities from China took part in the competition.
The two-day competition consists of written and oral test, quarter final, semi-final and final. After the written test, 48 teams entered the oral test, of which 9 Chinese universities entered the next round. After the oral test, 16 teams entered the quarter final round; 6 teams entered semi-final round and top 3 teams entered final round. After written test, our representative team entered the oral test and then quarter final round with excellent on-site performance. Under the careful guidance of Shang Feifei (School of Basic Medical Science), our representative team won the 7thplace in the end, which is a great achievement and won high praise from both organizers and other teams.
Since the first session since 2003, IMSPQ has been held for 15 sessions. It is one of the most influential international competitions in medicine in Asia. The wonderful performance of our team in this competition not only presents to the world a solid foundation of knowledge and a good mental outlook of our medical students, but also our high-level teaching quality, and will further enhance the popularity, influence and internationalization of Taishan Medical University.
